Natural Health - Healing Touch

Reiki is a powerful, yet simple natural healing system involving the laying on the hands. Universal energy which is the energy of Spirit, God/ Goddess, Buddha, All That Is, Nature flows through the Reiki channel, spilling out via the heart chakra to the hands and from the hands to the recipient which may be another person, an animal, plant, a situation, or environment. This technique can be given a received by anyone. It is taught by a series of attunements, which is the drawing of particular sacred symbols in the auric field this tunes the person’s physical and energetic bodies to the healing vibration thus allowing the person to be a clear channel for the energy flow. Once attuned to Reiki, the channel is open for life. Reiki does not cure in itself, but enhances the life force vitality so the body’s innate healing can be activated and supported to achieve optimum health.

Reiki is a powerful complement to all other healing modalities. It will enhance and not interfere with other treatments. It can be effectively and safely used for people, babies, animals, ‘space clearing’, as well as more mundane things such as loosening tight jar lids, getting more mileage from your petrol, increasing the vitality of your food and water, supporting newly transplanted seedlings or plants…the list is endless! Some real estate agents have noticed that ‘Reikied’ houses sell faster.
Reiki energy is truly holistic. The energy flows to the area most in need of treatment, in the moment needed for balance, thus affecting the cause of the problem; for example a client may present with a headache. Even if your hands are on their head, the energy may flow to the digestive area if this is where the cause of the headache originated. The client may comment that their tummy feels warm or ‘buzzing’. As Reiki energy has this innate intelligence no direction is needed by the practitioner. The Reiki channel simply places their hands in different positions on the body and allows the energy to flow. Every Reiki treatment is different and every client will report different sensations, which can vary from a feeling of warmth, cold, tingling or buzzing or of general well being and relaxation.

Channeling Reiki also has profound effect on the practitioner, allowing change and growth, both emotional and spiritual as well as enhancing our intuitive faculties.

The 5 Reiki Principles

Just for today, do not worry
Just for today, do not anger
Honour your parents, teachers and elders
Earn your living honestly
Show gratitude for every living thing

Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Nui PDF Print E-mail
Natural Health - Healing Touch

Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Nui is an ancient Polynesian massage which was practiced by the Ka Hunas (Hawaiian shamans) to transform & completely balance all aspects of self to create harmony & flow in a person’s being,
leaving a sense of a person’s true, unique self and effectiveness in the community.

In Hawaiian tradition this ancient wisdom was used during rites of passage
such as puberty, loss of a loved one, or major personal transition
to ease the individual gracefully through these times of change.
Being deeply connected to Nature, Hawaiian kahunas would use dance,
chanting and ritual with lomi lomi massage to inspire deep healing
and restore health, thereby promoting a happy and balanced community
with Aloha.

It is otherwise known as Ka huna massage, Aloha massage,
the massage of loving touch, “lomilomi massage”,
Hawaiian shaman massage, “the dance of life and breath from the heart”.

More than a massage, the ancient wisdom and Spirit of Aloha will guide,
heal and inspire you towards your true potential. It is an experience
that overwhelms the mind with sensation as the lomilomi therapist
uses intuitive movement, breathing, rhythm and focussed intention in long,
flowing strokes up, down, under and over the body.
This sacred Hawaiian healing can produce powerful spiritual experiences
and heightened states of awareness.

Lomi Lomi Nui massage begins and ends with prayer,
setting an intention for the individual’s healing and health in alignment
with their highest good. The kahuna massage therapist
then uses various massage oils, hands, elbows and forearms in dynamic,
deep movements that mimic the ebb and flow of the ocean.

In certain traditions, warmed stones are also used to enhance the healing
massage in Hawaiian lomi lomi style flowing movements.
More than a way to relax, this is a complete spiritual and physical ritual
that continues with internal and external cleansing.

The lomi lomi therapist focuses on blockages within the physical or energetic body, using breath, movement and intention to release and free you from anything
blocking the flow of your physical, emotional, spiritual or mental health.

WHAT IS HUNA?

Huna can be translated as “that which is hidden” or “the secret knowledge”.
Not that this wisdom was intended to be kept secret, but rather refers
to reality which is not easily seen. Huna is the Hawaiian philosophy
that can give profound insight into ourselves, life and the universe.

It is certainly one of the most profound and comprehensive systems of truths
and psychology existing on our planet today.

Huna offers a view of life centred in love, aloha, interconnectedness,
harmony, peace and abundance.

One can spend a lifetime exploring the Hawaiian language which gives multifaceted meanings to many Hawaiian huna ideas and philosophies.

A basic outline of the 7 Ka Huna Principles are:

IKE the world is what you think it is (BE AWARE)
KALA there are no limits (BE FREE)
MAKIA energy flows where attention goes (BE FOCUSSED)
MANAWA now is the moment of power (BE PRESENT)
ALOHA to love is to be happy with (BE HAPPY)
MANA all power comes from within (BE POWERFUL)
PONO effectiveness is the measure of truth (BE CONFIDENT)

Exploring the wisdom of the ancient Hawaiian healers,
the Kahunas (“keeper of the secret”), leads to a greater understanding
and experience of oneness & deep connection with your self,
Nature, people and everything around us.

Working with the “temple of the soul”, breath, awareness & loving intention
creates a space for deep release and healing from anything holding you back
from expressing the truest essence of who you are.

Hawaiian lomi lomi training workshops create the time & space
for bridging your intellect with your passion.

Hawaiian style, you will dance to the rhythm of nature, feeling intensely alive
and in community with others.

Through your body you can create transformation & harmony within yourself,
your relationships and indeed, the World.

Craniosacral Therapy PDF Print E-mail
Natural Health - Healing Touch

Craniosacral therapy (CST) is also known as Cranial Osteopathy or Cranial Therapy. It was pioneered by osteopathic physician John. E. Upledger. It is a method of alternative medicine that assesses and enhances the functioning of the patient by accessing his or her primary respiratory mechanism. The craniosacral system comprises of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds the brain. The system functions to protect the brain and spinal cord.

Practitioners use soft touch – generally no greater than 5 Grams, which is barely the weight of a Nickel – to release restrictions in the craniosacral system. This improves the functioning of the central nervous system.

Practitioners claim that by working with the body in this way they are able to remove restrictions in the flow of the cerebrospinal fluid. This in turn helps to relieve stress, tension and pain and thus enhances overall health. By complementing the body’s natural healing systems, craniosacral therapy is increasingly used as a preventative health measure. This is because it bolsters resistance to disease and effectively solves a wide range of medical problems. These include conditions like:
- Migraine headaches
- Motor-coordination Impairments
- Chronic back and neck pain
- Autism
- Colic
- Orthopedic problems
- Stress and tension-related problems
- Fibromyalgia and other disorders of the connective tissue
- Post-traumatic stress disorder
- Neurovascular or Immune disorders

Practitioners claim that they are able to detect the craniosacral rhythm by the use of their hands. This rhythm is considered essential to good health. No instrument is used to detect the rhythm. The measurement and the therapy are totally subjective.

It is true that sometimes all that your body needs is the gentle touch of a knowing hand. The body has its own healing mechanism. Modern medicine largely ignores this internal healing system of the body. But Craniosacral therapy is a light-touch hands-on method that seeks to enhance the body’s natural healing capabilities. Craniosacral therapy is therefore used both as a primary treatment and is also combined with other traditional healing techniques to speed up the recovery process.

Craniosacral therapy is also now being used to help women prepare for the delivery process. It helps resolve any structural restrictions and fights the residue of past trauma. The effects of past birth experiences can often interfere with normal childbirth. In labor, therefore, craniosacral therapy is a useful tool that helps mothers overcome any impasse. Postpartum depression can also be held at bay by using this therapy as mothers are encouraged to integrate the birthing experience in a way that proves emotionally and mentally enriching.

While the main focus of Craniosacral Therapy is to uncover the source of the problem, symptom relief is also a natural by-product of the treatment process. The number of sessions needed and the length of the treatment depend on a number of factors including the depth of the trauma and the body’s defense mechanism that masks the problem. Due to its gentle and caring treatment techniques, many people include craniosacral therapy in their personal wellness and fitness programs.

Natural Health - Healing Touch

Features: Acupressure meridians tell the body’s internal story. These pathways of electrical energy flow are located on both sides of the body. There are a series of acupoints that exist on the meridians, which are linked to a specific organ. Touching specific acupoints along the meridians will activate nerves, which send electrical impulses to the spinal cord, the lower areas of the brain, and the area of imbalance. These acupoints are electromagnetic. Good health exists when this energy flow is in a state of balance.

Clearing energy blockages by stimulating the holding points or connecting points simply allows the body to function in the way nature intended. Nutritional points tell what vitamins and minerals might be necessary in order for the body to carry out it’s important and varied cellular functions. Holistic therapy teaches taking responsibility for your whole body, mind, and soul. Energy balancing gives you a head start!!

Acupuncture PDF Print E-mail
Natural Health - Healing Touch
Acupuncture, the most widely known alternative medicine treatment, has been the primary method of treatment in China for over 5000 years. Other countries are slowly catching on and are applying this technique, like China, for the treatment of almost all medical ailments known to mankind. Acupuncture treatment ranges from relieving pain to giving anesthesia to patients. It is probably the best treatment known till this day without any side effects to our bodies.

People following Chinese method of treatment, especially acupuncture, guarantees a long and healthy life. The older and probably one of the first few acupuncture transcripts was found back in 200 BC. The collection of these medical transcripts forms the most comprehensive medical text books used today.

Acupuncture needles were introduced by Pien Chueh in the fourth century. He used stone acupuncture needles, moxibustion and herbs to bring a prince out of coma. The Chinese still celebrate this day every year on April 28th.

Acupuncture is basically a treatment that accelerates the body’s natural healing process and improves biological functioning. There are numerous nerve endings in our body. Acupuncture is the practice of stimulating these points via acupuncture needles and electric current in extreme cases. These nerve endings are also called acupuncture points.

Functionality and success of acupuncture is something not known to many people. In our body, many channels of energies flow in regular patterns. These channels like the river irrigate the muscles and tissues of our bodies. Any pain or disorder in our health influences these channels. Acupuncture regulates them back to their courses through needles. With the use of special herbs applied to the tips of needles, acupuncture stimulates the body when touched at the correct points. Any obstruction in the energy channels is then removed and the process starts again normally.

Acupuncture creates a remarkable biochemical balance in our body and stimulates the natural healing process of our body. This promotes physical and emotional well being.

Acupuncture is often associated with the treatment and relief of pain, however many experienced practitioners are capable of using acupuncture in a much wider area of health curing many other biological disorders. It treats all sorts of digestive, respiratory, urinary , neurological, muscular and reproductive malfunctions.

Acupuncture treatment is given in a number of sessions to the patients. The number of sessions depends upon the severity of the cause. The number of session may range from 1-2 per week for a few months or even over a number of months. One must keep in mind that acupuncture is a natural treatment and thus the effects are slow but long lasting. Patience and relaxation is the key to long term cure in acupuncture.
